What Horses Know About Life and Leadership
In a herd of horses, the lead mare sets the
direction and pace of the herd. The lead stallion keeps the herd
together and protects them from predators. For a leader to gain the confidence
of the herd, they must demonstrate the following capabilities:
- The
leader must be paying ATTENTION and
able to detect even the most subtle changes in the environment.
- The leader must give them clear DIRECTION on where to go next.
- The leader must follow that
direction with focused ENERGY,
providing them guidance on the pace with which to respond to those changes.
- The leader must show CONGRUENCE of
her inner and outer expression.
With the lead mare you don't ever have to wonder what she is thinking, her body language tells you and she never lies. Ultimately, the herd must know the leader has their best interest as her sole source of motivation at all times.
